The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Movement in Ondo State has been formally inaugurated to consolidate support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The Movement builds on the structure earlier launched by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is the APC leader in Ondo State.
Otunba Agboola Kelly, the State Coordinator of the APC Elders’ Movement, who anchored the event on Monday in Akure, introduced Senator Nimbe Farunkanmi as the Movement’s Chairman, and other dignitaries.
In his keynote address, Senator Farunkanmi described the Movement as “a platform for Tinubu’s continuity,” stressing that its activities would be replicated across the 18 local government areas, wards, and polling units to ensure “total mobilization” for the President.
“We are determined to deliver 1.5 million votes to Tinubu in 2027. It is possible because Ondo State currently has 1.9 million registered voters. The real challenge has always been voter apathy, and that is what we, as elders, are committed to changing,” Farunkanmi declared.
Also speaking at the event, a party stalwart, Chief Jamiu Ekungba emphasized the need for unity.
“Before now, the absence of leaders made the party appear disorganized. But with the Elders’ Forum, we now have a strong platform for consultation and wisdom that will drive massive turnout and ensure victory for Tinubu in 2027,” Ekungba disclosed.
Mr Olumuyiwa Ogunleye, another respected party elder, explained that the forum was created to harmonize all factions and support groups under one umbrella in Ondo State for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
“The elders are intervening to ensure unity of purpose. All groups will now operate within a single structure, with the collective goal of delivering maximum votes for the President in Ondo State,” he said.
Other notable speakers at the event included Mrs Kemi Iyantan, Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission; Dr Nat Adojutelegan, Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission; Dr. Hon.
