The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, on Saturday celebrated his 72nd birthday with a thanksgiving service at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Gboko, Benue State.
At the event, Akume appeared publicly with his new wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh.
The development came barely 24 hours after a reported public confirmation of their marriage by a member of the family.
The union has attracted public attention, largely because of Queen Zaynab’s past marriage to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
She got married to Oba Ogunwusi on March 12, 2016, in Benin City, Edo State but the marriage crashed in August 2017.
A statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation(OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, stated that Akume used the occasion to stress that “accountability among the three tiers of government” remains central to sustainable national development.
According to the statement, the SGF insisted that “national development is a collective responsibility, requiring the synergy of all three tiers of government.”
