Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with ABC News, said that targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would not escalate the ongoing conflict but rather bring it to an end.
“Iran wants a ‘forever war,’ and they’re bringing us to the brink of nuclear war. In fact, what Israel is doing is preventing this,” Netanyahu stated.
When asked whether Israel is actively attempting to target Khamenei, Netanyahu responded that Israel is “doing what we need to do.”
“I’m not going to get into the details, but we’ve targeted their top nuclear scientists,” he added.
He argued that Khamenei is “like a modern Hitler.”
Netanyahu emphasized that it is in America’s interest to stand with Israel. “America does, should, and does stand with the good. That’s what President Trump is doing, And I deeply appreciate his support,” he said.
According to the Israeli premier, Iran has been misleading its negotiating partners and is not genuinely seeking peace.
“They want to continue to have these fake talks in which they lie, they cheat, they string the U.S. along,” Netanyahu said, accusing Tehran of using talks as a cover to expand its nuclear program and ballistic missile arsenal.
