Flood has reportedly taken over some roads and streets in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, following a two-day torrential rain.
The flood, it was gathered, wreaked havoc as the rainfall continued on Friday, disrupting commercial activities as people in the affected areas were unable to connect their various destinations in the town.
Thefrontrank reports that mostly affected is the Ogungbo junction along Erinje road, which had no drainage.
It was gathered that the flood also affected the road leading to the residence of the chairman of the local government, Andrew Ogunsakin.
Some residents attributed the flooding to the blocked drains and lack of proper drainage system in the affected areas.
A resident, Kola Adesina lamented that the situation has hindered some people in assessing their houses.
Confirming the flooding, the chairman of the local government, said: “The secretary to the local government has visited the affected areas and we’re already making intervention.”
Thefrontrank reports that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) had predicted a heavy rainfall and strong winds in Ondo and 30 other states.
