Ondo State Government has declared Friday, January 2, 2026, as a work-free day for public servants to enable them to return to their duty posts after the New Year celebrations.
The Head of Service, Bayo Philip, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday in Akure, saying the decision was approved by the State Executive Council.
Philip explained that official duties would resume on Monday, January 5, 2026, urging workers to use the opportunity to travel safely and return promptly to work while reaffirming the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and productivity.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved the payment N100,000 as the 2025 Christmas Bonus to civil servants and pensioners in the state.
The payment of ₦100,000 Christmas bonus, approved by Governor Fubara, to civil servants, public sector workers, and pensioners in the state commenced on Monday, December 29.
The bonus was intended to ease the financial burden of the Yuletide season and ensure that workers and senior citizens celebrate Christmas and the New Year with renewed hope and dignity.
