Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has presented brand-new Toyota SUVs to traditional rulers across the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of the traditional institution.
At the presentation ceremony in Akure, Aiyedatiwa described the gesture as part of efforts to strengthen traditional leadership and sustain peace at the grassroots.
He thanked the monarchs for their support in maintaining stability across their domains.
“As custodians of our cultural heritage and vital links between government and the people, your welfare remains a top priority,” the governor said.
He highlighted key interventions, including the completion of a befitting secretariat for the Council of Obas and the regular payment of the statutory five per cent allocation to traditional institutions.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, lauded the governor’s leadership, noting that the vehicles would enhance the rulers’ mobility and effectiveness.
Traditional rulers and community leaders present at the event commended the governor for recognizing their role as vital partners in governance and development.
