Kenny Okolugbo, Consultant on Communications and Strategy to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has resigned from his position.
Okolugbo’s resignation brings an end to his involvement with the Senate President’s media operations.
The resignation was communicated in a letter dated December 22, 2025.
Okolugbo addressed the letter to the President of the Senate through the Chief of Staff, Chinedu Akubueze.
In the letter, he explained that his decision was based on “business and family commitments.”
In his message, Okolugbo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at a high level within the legislative arm of government.
He noted that working closely with the leadership of the National Assembly was a significant experience in his career.
“I have enjoyed working with the team. I should also point out the privilege of being an adviser to the number three citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
He also reflected positively on his time in office, describing his role within the media office of the former Akwa Ibom State governor as fulfilling.
According to him, the experience allows him to contribute meaningfully to the Senate President’s public engagement and communication efforts.
“I am grateful for the opportunity I had to serve and wish the best to the President of the Senate as he continues to steer the affairs of the National Assembly and the Senate in particular,” he added.
The resignation takes effect from January 1, 2026.
Confirming the development, the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Chinedu Akubueze, said Senator Akpabio had accepted Okolugbo’s resignation.
He stated that the Senate President appreciated Okolugbo’s service and contributions, while wishing him success in his future pursuits.
