The remains of late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, have been placed in an ambulance at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, commencing his final journey hometown, Daura.
Arriving earlier from the United Kingdom, where he passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, Buhari’s body was received by a high-level delegation including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
On ground were members of the Federal Executive Council, military top brass, and dignitaries from across the country, all paying their last respects before the body was moved into the waiting ambulance under tight security.
The convoy has now departed for Daura, the late President’s country home, where he will be buried later today in accordance with Islamic rites.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985.
He later served as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, died at the age of 82 following a brief illness.
Crowds have already begun gathering in Daura in anticipation of his burial, as tributes continue to pour in from within and beyond Nigeria.
