Contractor has commenced urgent palliative repairs on the busy Akure-Idanre road, 48 hours after viral outcry by a popular Ondo Prophet, Samson Oluwamodede over the deplorable condition of the road.
Residents, motorists and other road users plying the road, on Saturday heaved a sigh of relief following the emergency repairs.
Thefrontrank reports that the intervention followed Thursday’s viral video by Prophet Oluwamodede, who carpeted Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over the deplorable state of the road.
Oluwamodede, who is the General Overseer of Prayer Centre of God Worldwide, had vowed to fix the road if Aiyedatiwa failed to intervene.
The cleric stated that lives were been lost on the road on a daily basis.
Oluwamodede noted that commuters and residents at Owe-Akala, Abiodun, and Idanre Garage axis of the road are having hectic times accessing their homes, with most portions of the road a death trap.
The prophet added that most roads in the state are also facing similar challenges.
“Mr Governor, I called your attention to this road before, and you promised to act. But now, the situation has worsened.
“Heavy trucks fall, people die daily. If nothing is done before Sunday, I will hire a grader and do surface dressing myself, so you won’t be embarrassed,” he said.
Thefrontrank reports that most roads in the Akure metropolis are currently in deplorable conditions.
