
A globally acclaimed scholar and Professor of Educational Management, Haastrup Timilehin Ekundayo will on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 deliver the 91st inaugural lecture of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof J.B. Ayodele, the lecture will hold at the university auditorium.
Ayodele gave the lecture’s title as “Towards Sustaining School Effectiveness In Nigeria: The Cosmetic Politics of Stakeholders”.
Expected at lecture are members of the university’s governing council, senate and lecturers among others.
Prof. Ekundayo’s academic journey began from the then Ondo State University (OSUA) now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) when he graduated with Second Class Upper Division in Education/Economics in 1995/1996 session.
He obtained M.Ed. Educational Management from University of Ibadan in the year 2000. He later got his Ph.D in Educational Management in the year 2010 from University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University.
Prof. Ekundayo joined the services of the University as an Assistant Lecturer on January 17, 2005. He rose steadily through the ranks to become a Professor of Educational Management on October 1, 2020.
Prof. Ekundayo research interest is in the areas of school effectiveness, economics of education and educational policies. He has published extensively in these areas. To date, he has 146 publications to his credit. These comprise 8 authored books, 20 chapters in books and 2 articles in conference proceedings and 116 articles in reputable journals across the world. He has attended various local and international conferences. As at the last count, his Google citation is 1,851: h-index is 22 and i10-index is 26.
A seasoned academic leader, Prof. Ekundayo has passion for academic excellence, this has manifested in his supervision of Postgraduate students. He has successfully supervised 3 Ph.D students and 14 M.Ed students. Moreover, 3 Ph.D students are about to complete their thesis under his supervision.
He is an erudite scholar, a born teacher and an administrator par excellence. He has held various administrative positions successfully in the University. These include Chairman of Faculty of Education Business Committee, Deputy Director of Centre for Distance Learning of the University and member of various Committees in the University. Presently, he is the Head of Department, Educational Management.
He is an external examiner to many Universities among which are University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria; Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko; Walter Zulu University, South Africa; University of Free State, South Africa.
Prof. Ekundayo is a member of various learned societies. These include National Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP), Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM), Higher Education Research and Policy Network (HERPNET).
He is an embodiment of integrity, hard work and scholarship.
