Armed men have again wreaked havoc in Plateau State, barely 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu met with grieving families of victims killed in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
Tinubu, at a brief meeting held at Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, on Thursday, assured the people that such attacks would never happen again.
“To the victims, there is nothing I can give you, whether in billions of naira, but I can console you and promise that this experience will not repeat itself,” Tinubu had said.
Sadly, on Friday night, at least three persons were shot dead in Nyango Gyel community of Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the attackers invaded the community around 10:40 pm, shooting sporadically before fleeing.
The Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, who confirmed the incident, described it as another senseless assault on innocent citizens going about their normal businesses.
“This cycle of attacks on our rural communities must stop. We call on security agencies to act swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We urge heightened vigilance among residents of rural communities in Jos South, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas,” he said.
When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Jos command, Alfred Alabo, said that he was in a meeting, but would get back shortly.
As of press time, he had not done so.
