FRSC impounds overloaded vehicle, warns motorists of danger
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has arrested an overloaded vehicle in Gombe State during its ongoing nationwide campaign to curb unsafe road practices and prevent avoidable crashes.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday, the Corps said the vehicle was arrested by the Cham Unit Command patrol team, led by Assistant Route Commander T.H. Lawal, for carrying goods far beyond its approved load capacity.
According to the FRSC, overloading poses serious risks to road users by reducing vehicle stability, straining critical components such as tyres and brakes, and significantly increasing the likelihood of fatal accidents.
“Overloading endangers lives by weakening vehicle stability, straining tyres and brakes, and increasing the risk of crashes.
“Motorists are therefore strongly advised to desist from this dangerous practice. No trip or profit is worth a life lost to preventable recklessness,” the Corps stated.
The FRSC reiterated its commitment to enforcing road safety regulations and urged all motorists to adhere strictly to vehicle load limits as part of efforts to make Nigerian roads safer for everyone.
