Gunmen have kidnapped Joseph Aladesuyi, the Secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area(LCDA) in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The local government boss was abducted at about 10.00 a.m on Monday alongside one other person on his farm in Kajola area of Ilu-Abo, Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
Thefrontrank gathered that the incident occurred in the farm located close to the Akure airport.
Ilu-Abo community has witnessed incessant killings and abductions in the last six months, leaving residents in tears and sorrow.
The armed men were said to have stormed the farm, overwhelmed the victims before fleeing into the forest with their captives.
Sources said Aladesuyi was in the farm for routine activities alongside his daughter at the time of the incident.
“He arrived at his farm around 9:00 a.m with his daughter. Shortly after, the kidnappers arrived and shot sporadically into the air.
“They dragged him, but he struggled with them, and one of them (gunmen) shot him in his hand and then took him away.
“They (gunmen) left his daughter behind,” the source disclosed.
Confirming the abduction, the spokesperson for the Police Command in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, identified the victims as Joseph Kayode and Esther Akinlolu.
“Security operatives alongside non conventional security outfits are currently combing nearby forests and surrounding communities as part of the ongoing efforts to track down the perpetrators,” Jimoh said.
