Gunmen kidnap traditional ruler on way to church
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted His Royal Highness Francis Igwe, the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike community, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The gunmen kidnapped Igwe, who is the father of a former deputy governor of the state, Kelechi Igwe, on Sunday morning on his way to church in the community.
It was gathered that the traditional ruler was driving when armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted his vehicle.
Sources further revealed that the gunmen double-crossed traditional ruler, forced him out of his car and whisked him away on their motorcycle to an undisclosed location.
Sunday Nwankwo, the chairman of the local government,confirmed the incident.
Nwankwo said the council was working with security agencies to assemble available information and facilitate his rescue.
The Police Command in the state is yet to react to the incident.
