Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a woman, identified as Tomiola Oladehinde at Ilu-Abo in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Oladehinde was abducted at about 8:00 p.m on Sunday by gunmen at the entrance of her residence.
It learnt that the gunmen had trailed a businessman, John Ofuduwa, to the community and in the process abducted the woman.
Ofuduwa, a businessman, was reportedly shot in the head by the assailants while entering his compound.
During the attack, two other residents who were passing through the area, were also hit by bullets fired by the assailants.
The incident led to a peaceful protest in the community, with residents barricading the busy Akure–Owo highway.
The protesters expressed anger over the rising insecurity in the area.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, who visited the community, assured residents that efforts were ongoing by security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted woman and arrest of the assailants.
