The only son of Anambra State Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), Mrs Esther Onyekesi, has been killed by gunmen after he was abducted on Sunday evening.
Thefrontrank gathered that the deceased, Martin Onyekesi was kidnapped in his home in Awka, the Anambra State capital, by gunmen.
The young man in his 20s and a notable fish farmer in the Okpuno area of Awka, was reportedly trailed and accosted by gunmen in his family compound, before he was shot on the leg, and thereafter kidnapped.
The gunmen escaped with Martins after creating a scene with sporadic gunshots, but still left unscathed, according to multiple eyewitnesses.
Despite paying a ransom of unspecified amount, the young Martins was murdered by the assailants, throwing the family into grief.
Concerns over security in Anambra State remain high, even as the state government makes assurances and promises that negate the experiences of residents.
