Thirty people were killed with scores kidnapped by suspected bandits in a community in Niger State.
The gunmen were said to be operating from expansive Kainji Lake National Park forest.
The spokesperson for the Police Command in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
Abiodun stated that a joint security team had visited the scene, while efforts were ongoing to rescue the kidnapped victims.
“Over 30 victims lost their lives during the attack, some persons were also kidnapped,” he disclosed.
It was gathered that the bandits in their numbers attacked a village market in Kabe District in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The bandits set the market ablaze and looted it as well as killing villagers.
