Some teachers recently recruited by the Ondo State Government on Friday staged a peaceful protest over alleged fake appointment letters offered to them by the state Universal Basic Education Board(ODSUBEB) and Teaching Service Commission(TESCOM).
The teachers who embarked on massive protest at the Governor’s Office in Akure, alleged that they were not allowed to be part of the ongoing data capturing exercise.
The protesters claimed they received appointment letters, which is a suspected scam.
Thefrontrank reports that the bewildered teachers appealed for quick intervention by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The protesters were demanding for inclusion in the ongoing capturing exercise by officials of the ODSUBEB and TESCOM.
The teachers claimed that were denied inclusion in the exercise over alleged fake appointment letters issued to them by both education boards.
“We were recruited like every other teachers, only to be told now that our letters are fake.
“This is injustice, and we want Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to intervene,” one of the protesters said.
Reacting to the protest, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan confirmed that the protesters had been scammed with fake appointment letters by some unknown people.
” People should please note that those who protested are not teachers but applicants who were duped by some individuals during the recruitment process.
“They all paid money to scammers who issued them fake letters of appointment.
“Those legitimately recruited by the government have been absorbed and have started working, ” Adeniyan said.
