The Governor of Kano State Abba Yusuf has concluded arrangements to defect to the All Progressives Congress(APC) from the New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP).
Thefrontrank gathered that Governor Yusuf is expected to join the APC in January, 2026.
Governor Yusuf, who has 25 [two now deceased] out of 27 NNPP members of the House of Assembly, will be defecting to the APC without the former Governor of Kano State and NNPP Leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who kicked against the move.
Additionally, Governor Yusuf has also decided to sacrifice his deputy, Aminu Abdulsalam, who’s set to be impeached to pave way for APC deputy governorship candidate in 2023 governorship election, Murtala Sule-Garo as the new deputy governor.
Confirming the development, Abdullahi Rogo, the Director-General of the Protocol Directorate of Kano State Government House, says the citizens of the state and voters have agreed that the Governor Yusuf should defect to the APC from the NNPP.
He made the disclosure in a viral video released by Arewa Update on Sunday.
According to him, the planned defection follows a meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly.
“After our meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other members of Kwankwasiyya, we agreed that Kano State Governor Abba K. Yusuf should join the APC,” he said.
