Warning
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences (FUHSI), Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, has warned newly admitted students of the university against acts of immorality, indecency, and indiscipline.
Lasisi gave the warning at the 4th matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session on Thursday at the university premises in Ila-Orangun.
“This administration will not only challenge you to be outstanding scholars; it will also imbibe in you the character that aligns with your intended professional calling.
“You are, therefore, encouraged to be diligent in your studies and to always maintain good character, as the management will not tolerate any form of indecency, indiscipline, or immorality. You are hereby warned,” he said.
Lasisi disclosed that out of 4,625 applicants who sought admission into the university, only 1,225 candidates were admitted.
According to him, 856 of the admitted students are females, while 369 are males.
“This reflects a female-dominant admission pattern across most of the programmes.
“I congratulate you and your parents on this remarkable success of gaining admission into this citadel of knowledge.
“You have demonstrated convincing evidence of a broad educational background and high standards of literacy and numeracy in the UTME and School Certificate examinations, in addition to your success in the University’s post-UTME screening.
“You have all passed through a rigorous academic crucible of tests and emerged worthy of further training in your respective fields of study,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor also said it was heartwarming that the students were admitted at a time when the university was witnessing remarkable growth and transformation.
He noted that services had commenced at the University Teaching Hospital, indicating that the institution was fully prepared to train skilled health personnel for local and global relevance.
“In addition, the university secured NUC accreditation for nine programmes last year. Similarly, preparations have been completed, and we are expecting accreditation visits from all relevant professional councils.
“All these efforts are geared towards ensuring a solid foundation for your training and an exciting academic experience at FUHSI.
“I, therefore, urge you to embrace personal transformation to be impactful throughout your stay in this citadel of learning,” he added.
