
Mr Adewumi Adeyemi, a member of Osun House of Assembly has said that government must be willing to embrace research to advance the desired development in the country.
Adeyemi, representing Obokun State Constituency, said this while speaking as special guest at the Redeemer’s University, Ede, 20th Anniversary Research Fair on Thursday.
According to the lawmaker, no nation can grow without research and the level of any country’s development is based on their level of research.
Adewumi said that one of the problem Nigerian leaders were facing was lack of in-depth research to know the challenges in government before vying for political offices.
Adewumi, however, said that research was not limited to academics, adding that the need for individuals to carry out research on businesses and life changing decisions was also important.
He, however, decried the way university students research works were wasting away on the shelves without government making use of them to resolve challenges.
Adewumi, who said that government had a lot to do with research, said that good leadership could only thrive with good researched information and solutions.
He explained how he was determined, even before getting into the university, on what he wanted to do and setting a goal on how to achieve it.
The lawmaker said that his determination and set goals helped him to achieved desire of becoming a lawmaker.
He encouraged young Nigerian students to also set a goal early in life and pursue the goal to the end, without letting anything or anyone discourage them.
