
The General Manager of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Divine Ogbonnaya, says improvements on facilities at the Games Village are one of his priorities to enhance the standards of sports infrastructure.
Ogbonnaya made this known when he led the executive of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) under the leadership of Segun Giwa in the state on an inspection tour of the ongoing renovation of facilities at the games village on Oda Road, Akure.
The tour showcased the improvements being made to the facilities and ongoing projects at the agency, especially the renovation of the hostel and the pitch.
The general manager highlighted key renovation works which included: re-grassing of the pitch to aid good play without hindrance, installation of an improved lighting system, refurbishing the hostel rooms for players and the reconstruction of an abandoned hostel facility.
He emphasised that the renovations were aimed at fostering talent development and providing a good experience for fans and players alike.
Ogbonnaya further noted that the project will be completed on schedule, while thanking the support of stakeholders and partners.
The tour provided an avenue for transparent communication between the football agency and ensured the public was well-informed about the facility’s readiness.
“Gentlemen, I am glad you are here to have an insight into the ongoing upgrade works aimed at bringing the facility up to modern standards, “he said.
Ogbonnaya explained that the renovations are part of a broader plan of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to promote football development and enhance spectator experience.
He assured that the project was progressing on schedule and would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
“Part of our aims is to demonstrate the agency’s commitment to raising the standard of football facilities and provide transparency and accountability to the public through media coverage,” he added.
He said additional mini-pitches will be prepared to accommodate youth development programmes.
” We are more than ready to actualise Mr Governor’s vision of positioning the facility as a leading hub for football talent development in Ondo state,”he said.
Speaking during the your, Ondo State SWAN Chairman, Segun Giwa assured the new leadership of support of sports writers in the state.
Giwa urged the management to ensure that the agency did not deviate from its main purpose developing and promoting football in the state.
The leadership of Sports Writers were allowed to inspect the work closely, to enabe them provide accurate updates to the public.
