Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 53-year-old man, Babawale Kolawole from Okeodunwo Street, Igbado, Ondo, over alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl.
Thefrontrank reports that the spokesperson for the command, Ayanlade Olusola, who confirmed the incident, said the victim reported to the police on September 13, that her uncle had subjected her to repeated sexual assault.
He explained that the victim claimed the abuse occurred almost daily and after each incident, the suspect would clean her with a cloth.
The suspect also facilitated the termination of her pregnancies on two occasions.
In response to this troubling report, the Command’s Gender-Based Offences Unit immediately took action, arresting the suspect and preparing the case for prosecution.
He has since been arraigned in court and remanded in custody pending trial.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights of women and children, ensuring that offenders are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
