The Police Command in Ondo State has arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the violent attack on Fuji musician, Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, during a burial ceremony in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the command, Olushola Ayanlade, said the suspects were arrested following swift intervention by the operatives.
Thefrontrank reports that Obesere and his band members were attacked by suspected thugs on Friday at the Government Field, Okitipupa while performing at a burial ceremony attended by dignitaries.
The musician, in a statement by his media aide, Ayonla Obesere Althentic, explained that he was violently attacked and dispossessed of his money by the thugs.
In a swift reaction to the incident, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, condemned the action, saying it does not reflect the values of the Ikale people.
Ogunsakin promised that the government would take necessary steps to address the matter and prevent recurrence.
