The Police Command in Ondo State says it has arrested two suspected kidnappers at Odo Ala, Ayede town in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
The Spokesperson for the command, Abayomi Jimoh, who made this known in a statement on Friday in Akure, said firearm and live ammunitions were recovered from the suspects.
Jimoh described the arrest as a significant operational breakthrough and sustained efforts by the command to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protect lives and property.
Said he: “On 12th February, 2026, at about 0948hrs, operatives of Tactical Intelligence Response Squad, acting on credible intelligence, carried out a targeted operation in the area. During the operation, two suspects were apprehended, namely: Okotie, male and Michael, male.
“A thorough search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of one single-barrel rifle and eighteen (18) live cartridges concealed in their possession.
“The suspects have been taken into custody, where they have made useful statements that are currently aiding ongoing investigations, particularly in efforts to apprehend their cohorts and uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.
“Commending the operatives for their prompt and professional conduct, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, underscored the importance of Intelligence-led operations in combating kidnapping activities.
“Conclusively, he reassured residents of the State that the Command remains resolute and is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across Ondo State.”
