
The Police in Ondo State have confirmed the abduction of a tipper driver, Tobi Oluwatuyi, at Ilu Abo, along the Akure-Owo Expressway in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
Oluwatuyi was abducted by gunmen on Friday at about 6:00 a.m when the vehicle reportedly developed a fault.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, said a manhunt has been launched to ensure the release of the victim and arrest the perpetrators.
“A tipper driver was kidnapped yesterday(Friday) while his motor boy escaped. Meanwhile, the Police had made an arrest that same yesterday.
“Effort is ongoing to arrest the perpetrators,” Ayanlade disclosed.
Thefrontrank gathered that the driver was attempting to fix the truck, when the gunmen emerged from the bush and whisked him away.
The driver’s motor boy, however, escaped from the scene and alerted nearby residents.
The owner of the tipper, Monday Ayesoro, said the incident has been reported to the security agencies.
