Some residents of Idoani in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have protested what they called forced payments and high-handedness by policemen in the community.
The residents who stated a peaceful protest on Friday at the Idoani Divisional Police Headquarters, urged the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal to check the trend.
The protesters holding leaves, gathered at the entrance of the divisional police headquarters, chanting solidarity songs, demanding fair treatment and accountability from the police authority in the area.
The angry residents said the protest was to draw the attention of relevant authorities to alleged extortion, intimidation and harassment by the police in area.
They appealed to the Police Command in the state to investigate the allegations and ensure that justice is served to restore confidence between the police and the community.
