The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency(OSSAA) has announced the commencement of a two-week awareness campaign to sensitise members of the public on the need for compliance with regulations guiding outdoor advertisement in the state.
The aim is to enhance service delivery through an effective communication system with the general public.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Signage and Advertisement, Mr Yòmí Oyékàn, the campaign will commence on Monday, November 24, with a statewide media tour and door-to-door stakeholder engagement to sensitise residents on signage and outdoor advertising regulations.
A statement by the SSA explained that the programme was designed to deepen public understanding of the functions and guidelines of the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA).
The tour aligns with people-centred vision of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s directive that community engagement should drive service delivery and that the enforcement of signage rules should remain a last resort.
The SSA said the exercise would involve visits to major media organisations, interactive sessions in markets and business clusters, direct engagement with artisans, traders, corporate bodies, political groups, religious institutions and advertising practitioners.
He said that the team would also clarify permit procedures, safety requirements and compliance steps while holding discussions on urban development, environmental orderliness and beautification initiatives.
Oyékàn said the exercise would focus on education and cooperation rather than penalties.
“This tour is about taking the message directly to the people in their offices, markets and communities.
“The Governor believes engagement breeds understanding, and when people understand the process, compliance follows naturally,” he said.
He urged residents and business operators to participate actively, and seek clarifications during the sensitisation programme.
