The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has appealed to outdoor advertisers in the state to repair or replace defaced and damaged advert structures.
Yòmí Oyékàn, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, made the plea in a statement on Thursday in Akure.
The Agency stated there had been many cases of defaced, displaced and structurally damaged advertisement structures in the state which are not in the interest of public safety, environmental aesthetics, and regulatory compliance.
The statement read: “Following the recent rainstorm across parts of Ondo State, the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has observed cases of defacement, structural damage, displacement, and general wear on some advertisement structures, including billboards and streetlight pole advertisements.
“In the interest of public safety, environmental aesthetics, and regulatory compliance, all outdoor advertisers are hereby advised to immediately deploy their maintenance teams to inspect, repair, reinforce, or replace any affected advertisement structures under their control.
“Please be informed that the Agency will subsequently carry out a general sweep and assessment of affected structures and advertisements across the State. Any installation found to be hazardous, unstable, severely defaced, or non-compliant during this exercise may be removed, sealed, or sanctioned in line with extant regulations, to prevent accidents and protect lives and property.
“Advertisers are urged to treat this notice with the urgency it deserves and ensure prompt maintenance action to avoid enforcement measures.”
