Ondo State Government has warned building owners against allowing their properties to be used for the display of illegal banners, posters and unapproved advertisements.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, Mr Yomi Oyekan, gave the warning in a statement issued on Wednesday in Akure.
Oyekan said property owners who permit unauthorised advertisements on their buildings would be treated as accomplices and sanctioned in line with the law.
He stressed that no advertisement was allowed anywhere in the state without prior approval from the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA).
According to him, the indiscriminate display of banners and posters had defaced public spaces, particularly in areas such as Akure Mall, Oja Oba, Arakale Market and Alagbaka.
Oyekan said that with immediate effect, all illegal advertisements would be removed without notice, while offenders, including building owners, would face fines and possible prosecution.
He added that the enforcement exercise was aimed at restoring order and protecting the aesthetics of the state, stressing that compliance was mandatory.
