The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Chief Olamide Oladiji has debunked allegation of divisive stance in the leadership of the assembly.
Oladiji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Akinjolie Akintayo, on Thursday night in Akure, said the assembly is strongly united.
“The attention of the Ondo State House of Assembly has been drawn to a statement credited to Barr. Temitope Komolafe, member representing Ifedore State Constituency, wherein he made unfounded allegations about the leadership of the House.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the assembly wishes to state unequivocally that there is no division or crisis within its ranks under the able leadership of the speaker Olamide Oladiji Adesanmi.
“The House remains united, focused, and committed to the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities to the people of Ondo State,” the statement read.
The statement, however, said that it was regrettable that Komolafe, who allegedly was consistently failed to meet the statutory attendance required of a legislator, had chosen to malign the institution from afar.
According to the statement, representation demands presence, participation, and contribution to the legislative process duties that Komolafe has grossly neglected.
“The assembly, therefore, urges Hon. Komolafe, who appears to have become an “expatriate legislator” operating from outside the country, to desist from making baseless and misleading statements.
“ If he has any concrete evidence to support his claims, he should present them instead of attempting to misinform the public.
“The leadership of the Ondo State House of Assembly remains resolute in upholding the integrity of the legislature and will not be distracted by unfounded allegations,” it stated.
