Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has reportedly concluded plans to join Accord Party next week as the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepens.
The governor is said to have settled for Accord Party after the PDP officially split into two factions after ithe controversial convention in Ibadan.
Thefrontrank reports that the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, had disclosed that Adeleke would announce his new political party on or before December 13 following his resignation from PDP.
Adeleke had earlier confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to PDP executives in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North LGA, on November 4.
Speaking on Rave FM, Osogbo, on Tuesday, Alimi said the governor’s exit was driven by the prolonged leadership crisis rocking the PDP at the national level.
“The governor of Osun State has formally resigned his membership from the PDP. He submitted his resignation letter long ago,” Alimi said.
He urged residents to remain calm and continue supporting the administration, describing the governor’s move as “long overdue”.

Nine hundred and ninety delegates were expected, while 957 were accredited for the primary held at Adolak Event Centre in Osogbo under tight security.
Humphery Abba, chairman of the PDP primary committee, said the party received two nominations, adding that the submissions were from Adeleke and Adedamola.
