The Chief Imam of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Ahmad Oladoke Aladesawe, is dead.
He was aged 91.
The Islam cleric died on Monday evening at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
An associate and indigene of Owo, Kamorudeen Ishola, confirmed the passing of the cleric.
Until his death, Aladesawe was also the General Secretary of the league in the Southwest, Edo and Delta states.
A respected Islamic scholar and community leader, Aladesawe was widely admired for his contributions to the growth of Islam and peace-building efforts across Ondo State and beyond.
Sympathizers have described his passing as a huge loss to the Muslim community and the state at large.
