The Police Command in Ondo State says it has arrested ten suspected kidnappers terrorising residents of Akure, the state capital.
Thefrontrank reports that the command explained that the suspects were apprehended at their hideouts following credible intelligence.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the spokesperson for the command, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Akure.
The statement described the arrest of the suspects by the command as operational breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the State.
It read in parts: “The Ondo State Police Command has recorded a significant operational breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the State.
“On the 23rd of February, 2026, following a combined operation between the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Section and visiting-PMF personnel approved and deployed to Ondo State as operational support, operatives swiftly mobilized to locations along Ondo Road based on credible and actionable intelligence.
“The intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of Ten suspects believed to be connected to the kidnapping syndicate.
“The suspects apprehended are: Muritala Muhammed (aged;22), Mustapha Adamu (aged;20), Usman Ibrahim (aged;25), Amisu Aruna (aged;28), Asiru Abdulasis (aged;20), Abduliu Sanni (aged;22), Ibrahim Suraju (aged;20), Noah Isiaku (aged;20), Abdulahi Suraju (aged;20), and Arabi Hamet (aged;18).
“During the operation, their operational motorcycle and ransom money was recovered from the suspects. Notably, part of the recovered cash comprised burnt currency notes, which are currently being documented as exhibits in the ongoing investigation.
“The suspects have made useful confessional statements, detailing the individual roles each played within the syndicate.
“Relevant exhibits recovered and are currently being processed for comprehensive investigation and further necessary action.
“The Ondo State Police Command is working assiduously to unravel the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and to identify and apprehend other accomplices who may still be at large.
“The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal reassures residents of Ondo State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the State of kidnapping and other heinous crimes.”
