Police arrest man, 71, for allegedly killing 67-year-old wife during misunderstanding at a bar
Polce have arrested a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel.
The Adamawa State Police Command arrested the man after he allegedly hacked his wife to death during a dispute in Demsa Local Government Area.
A statement by the spokesperson for the Command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje said the incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025, after a misunderstanding at a bar escalated into violence.
Nguroje explained that during the altercation, the suspect reportedly struck the wife multiple times with a knife and an axe.
”Upon receiving a distress call, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Demsa Division swiftly arrived at the scene,” Nguroje stated.
He added that the victim was rushed to the hospital but died while receiving treatment.
“Her body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” the police PPRO said.
Nguroje said the suspect was immediately apprehended, and the weapons used in the attack, a knife and an axe were recovered as exhibits.
