The Police Command in Ondo State has dismantled a major inter-state motorcycle theft syndicate, recovering seven stolen motorcycles in a coordinated operation.
Police sources revealed that the breakthrough followed a complaint lodged on August 29 by Mr. Boluwaji Samuel, a resident of Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State. Samuel reported that his blue NEO NX TUS Lady’s motorcycle, valued at ₦500,000, was stolen from his residence on August 20.
Acting on the report, detectives traced the stolen motorcycle to two suspects, identified as Oluwafemi Benjamin and one Seyi in Akure.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of an additional suspect in Owo, where six more motorcycles, believed to have been stolen from various locations within and beyond Ondo State, were recovered.
In total, seven motorcycles have now been retrieved from the suspects, who are believed to be members of a wider criminal network targeting motorcycle owners across the region.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the prompt and diligent work of his officers and reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.
He urged members of the public who have recently lost motorcycles to come forward with verifiable proof of ownership to facilitate recovery.
The police also appealed to residents to assist law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information on criminal activities.
