Two applicants seeking recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force have been arrested over the alleged possession of forged National Examinations Council (NECO) results during a screening exercise at the Police Training School in Bauchi.
The spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Habib explained that the recruitment screening was supervised by A.Y. Dickson, who led the team overseeing the exercise at the training institution.
He disclosed a total of 403 candidates participated in the screening process, including 354 applicants for general duty and 49 specialist candidates.
He said the two suspects were discovered with falsified NECO results during the verification of credentials.
The police spokesperson added that both individuals share the same name, Yusuf Usman, and had been moving together throughout the screening exercise before their documents were flagged as fake.
Habib further stated that the team leader ordered that the suspects be transferred to the Divisional Police Officer of the āEā Division for further investigation.
He warned prospective applicants to avoid any form of dishonesty during recruitment exercises.
The screening is part of the ongoing nationwide recruitment of 50,000 police constables, that commenced on Monday.
