Some residents of Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State have raised alarm over the deplorable conditions of rural roads in the area.
The residents decried the deplorable conditions of some rural roads in the council to include Kidimon, Araromi, Awo, Ogele and the Likokodiya Camp axis.
The residents, in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Local Government, Olajide Akinfe, lamented that most rural roads in the council have become almost impassable, posing serious challenges to daily movement and economic activities of farmers.
They noted that the roads are in such poor condition that even pedestrians struggle to pass through them.
The residents stated that the situation has worsened due to erosion, deep potholes and lack of maintenance, making transportation unsafe and difficult.
They appealed to the chairman of the local government to urgently intervene by rehabilitating the roads.
They stressed that improved access would enhance safety, ease movement, and boost farming and trading activities within the affected communities.
The community members expressed hope that the chairman would respond timely to their plea and take decisive action to alleviate the hardship faced by residents who depend on the roads for their means of livelihood.
