The Police Command in Ondo State has arrested a retired Vice Principal, identified as Alhaji Abdullahi Kasim Ayodele, for allegedly killing a 54-year-old woman, Caroline Agoi, during a dispute in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of the State.
Thefrontrank reports that the incident reportedly occurred on Uselu–Isuada road in Owo after a nylon bag was said to have been blown by the wind into the suspect’s compound, sparking a disagreement between the two neighbours.
Some residents of the area said the retired vice principal accused the deceased of deliberately throwing the nylon into his compound.
The allegation reportedly led to a heated argument between the pair across the fence separating their houses.
Witnesses said the situation escalated when the suspect, accompanied by his son, allegedly left his residence and went to the woman’s house.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect picked up a bench in front of the victim’s residence and allegedly used it to attack her.
The suspectson was also said to have assisted during the assault on the woman.
It was gathered that the woman was on the phone with her husband when the attack occurred. She reportedly collapsed during the incident and was later confirmed dead.
The spokesperson for the Police Command in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect has been arrested.
Jimoh added that the police had commenced investigation into the matter.
