A 26-year-old school gateman, identified as Josiah Ayomide, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly defiling a four-year-old pupil of his school in Ibadan.
The command’s spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, while addressing newsmen at the police headquarters, Eleyele in Ibadan, the state capital, said the victim had on August 29, 2025, lodged a complaint of pains in her vagina to her eldest sister.
He explained that the victim later told her mother that her school gateman had unlawfully raped her when she was in school.
Osifeso added that the suspect confessed to the crime after the arrest.
“The victim was taken to the Police Medical Clinic Eleyele, Ibadan, for a medical examination and treatment, and the medical report revealed that the hymen was not intact, tenderness around the vulva and vagina, with bruises.
“The suspect will be prosecuted upon completion of an investigation,” he disclosed.
