Students of Unity Model School, Asaba, Delta State, were on Wednesday, May 21, reportedly forced to sit for one of their WAEC exams late in the evening, and they had to use torchlight since the school was without a power
This shocking situation was revealed in a post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In the video, a woman could be heard lamenting the incident.
She explained that the exam was scheduled to start by 2.00 p.m., but the exam papers did not arrive until 6.00 p.m., forcing students to write in the dark.
Her voice in the video said: “We’re using torchlight to write WAEC oo, it’s not okay. Paper that’s supposed to start by 2, they brought it by 6. No light in Unity Modern School Asaba, a state capital, not a village o.”
She continued: “After they will say Tinubu is bad, this is wickedness—writing exam by night.”
She confirmed the name of the school and said the students were still writing the exam under poor conditions due to the delay.
As the post spread online, concerned Nigerians flooded the comment section to express shock and outrage over the situation.
