A suspected bag snatcher was on Wednesday beaten to pulp by an angry mob on Oruntan Street, behind the Mother and Child Hospital in the Oke Aro area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m when the suspect allegedly attempted to snatch a bag from a resident.
According to eyewitness, the victim raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of nearby residents.
The residents quickly mobilised and descended on the suspect, beating him severely until he lost consciousness.
It was also gathered that the residents had contacted security operatives.
As of the time of filing this report, the suspect remained at the scene, still breathing and it was unclear whether he had been handed over to the police.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Ondo State Police Command were unsuccessful.
