The Akure Youth for BTO, a political youth group in Ondo State supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, has lamented the destruction of some its campaign billboards located in Akure.
Group, in a statement issued on Thursday by its media team, said the destruction was carried out by some suspected sponsored political elements.
It alleged that the criminal act was aimed at suppressing the group’s legitimate political activities.
The statement read: “The leadership of Akure Youth for BTO in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election strongly condemns the destruction of our campaign billboards at St Peter’s Unity, Road Block, and Airport Junction in Akure.
“This deliberate act, carried out by suspected political elements, is criminal and aimed at suppressing our legitimate political expression. Surveillance footage has clearly identified those responsible, with evidence securely in our possession.Politics
“In the interest of peace and democratic conduct, we have chosen not to pursue immediate legal action. Instead, we will repair and replace the damaged billboards to ensure our message remains visible.
“However, we issue a firm warning: any further acts of vandalism will attract decisive legal action, including the release of evidence to security agencies and the public.
“We call on relevant security agencies to strengthen surveillance and protect political materials and citizens’ rights.
“Our commitment to a peaceful and issue-based campaign remains unwavering, and our support for BTO and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election stands firm.”
