
Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, has emphasised the government’s commitment to strengthening quality education in the state.
According to him, this includes initiatives to improve infrastructure, enhance teacher training, and ensure access to quality education for all students.
The commissioner stated this at a meeting of stakeholders in Akure, on ways to strengthen the quality of education in the state.
Ajibefun stressed the importance of collaboration between the government, teachers and other stakeholders to achieve these goals.
“Our priority should be to ensure access to quality education without putting unbearable pressure on parents in this current economic climate,” the commissioner said.
Ajibefun, a former vice-chancellor of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, pledged to initiate reforms that would raise the standard of education in the state, urging stakeholders in the sector to support the plan.
Dr Akindele Ige, Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, while addressing the gathering, said that the meeting was a routine annual exercise, aimed at charting ways forward in education management in the state.
The meeting had in attendance directors in the ministry, representatives of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Parents Teacher Association (PTA), and National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS).
Others are, Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), and Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS).
