Aiyedatiwa directed thugs to harass, maim our supporters — Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation

Reminiscence of the 2007 political violence in Ondo State, the state is now back to the era of political thuggery, no thanks to the dramatis personae.

Thefrontrank reports that in these couple of days, allegations of attacks and maiming of All Progressives Congress (APC) members have heightened, living fear in the minds of residents.

Unlike during the administration of late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu when the state enjoyed relative peace in the area of security, unfortunately, the current level of insecurity in the state is alarming.

On Wednesday during the condolence visit of President Bola Tinubu to the family Akeredolu in Owo and a private visit to the Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, violence were unleashed on some APC faithful with campaign materials destroyed.

Raising the alarm, the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation attributed the attack of its members and wanton destruction of campaign materials to the handiwork of the state government.

In an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation appealed to President Tinubu to call Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to order.

The letter was signed by Hon. Ofoesuwa Folorunsho, Director General, Oke Campaign Organization, Ilaje Local Government; and Mr Igbamerun W. F Alabama, its Secretary.

“We, members of Olusola Oke Campaign Organization, Ilaje Local Government of All Progressive Congress (APC) wish to express our profound appreciation to Mr President, the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR ), for his condolence visit to the family of our late governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON, and the courtesy visit to Pa Ruben Fasoranti, one of the foremost leaders of Yoruba race.

“It is in the appreciation of Mr President’s kind gesture that good number of APC members in Ondo State trooped out to welcome Mr President at the Akure airport.

“Many APC gubernatorial aspirants in reference, equally brought their followers to partake in welcoming Mr President.

“Earlier before now, it had been well circulated on social media that Governor Ayedatiwa never wanted anybody to join him in welcoming Mr President; and for this reason, he decided to unleash terror on other innocent party leaders that came.

“Unfortunately, His Excellency Orimisan Lucky Ayedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State directed his thugs to harass, maim and molest the supporters of other APC gubernatorial aspirants under the supervision of one of his aides, Mr SEGUN IWALOKUN.

“The thugs were well equipped with dangerous weapons in their numbers at the front of Pa Ruben Fasoranti street in Akure inflicted mortal injuries on members that came to welcome Mr President, “Chanting… O’Datiwa… O’Dirorun”.

“In the course of this attack, APC party leaders from Ilaje and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Governments were the worst hit.

“Pictorial evidence are herewith attached.

“This brazen act of brigandry was in clear violation of the Oath sworn to by His Excellency Orimisan Lucky Ayedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State to protect the lives and properties of the good citizens of Ondo State.

“It must be noted that we have enough insecurity challenges in Ondo State since his assumption of the office as the Governor of Ondo State, and he must not do anything to aggravate same.

“It is in the light of this, we are appealing to Mr President to call His Excellency Orimisan Lucky Ayedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State and his cohorts to order so that they do not cause further political crises, disunity and division in the party and the state at large that might be difficult, if not impossible to manage”, the letter read.
