Aiyedatiwa flags off construction of concrete walkway, jetty in Ilaje

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Monday flagged off the construction of a concrete walkway with an accompanying jetty at Obe-Nla community in Ilaje Local Government Area of the State.

Thefrontrank reports that the 1,000-meter concrete walkway will have streetlights.

Speaking at the occasion, Aiyedatiwa disclosed that the project is one of many that would be embarked upon for the development of the riverine communities.

The governor said that the project was a testament to his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life of residents.

“We have deliberately factored into the project durability; and daily safety and comfort of our people as they make use of the concrete walkway and jetty to ensure long-term benefits for our people,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to the overall development of the State, mentioned other projects underway, including the 28.5-kilometre Aboto-Atijere Road, the third phase of the Igbokoda-Ayetoro Road construction, and a 4.72-kilometre link road between Ugbonla and Ayetoro.

He assured residents that the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) would receive the statutory 40 percent of the 13 percent Oil Derivation Fund as first line charge to expedite ongoing projects in its mandate area.

Earlier, the Chairman of OSOPADEC, Hon. Sam Erejuwa, explained that the governor’s vision is to enhance the quality of life for the people of the riverine area by improving connectivity among communities.
