A media and community development advocate, Yòmí Oyékàn, through his platform, Akure Outsiders, has entered into a strategic partnership with Stanfield Attorneys, led by its Managing Partner, E. D. Elabi, to facilitate the release of 50 inmates from correctional facilities across Ondo State.
The initiative, driven by humanitarian and justice-focused objectives, targets inmates eligible for release on grounds of minor offences, prolonged detention without trial, or fulfillment of legal conditions for freedom.
In furtherance of this effort, the team held a high-level strategic meeting with the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo. The engagement was described as productive and outcome-driven, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to lawful interventions aimed at decongesting correctional centres and improving access to justice.
Speaking on the initiative, Oyékàn noted that the intervention underscores a firm commitment to social justice, rehabilitation, and reintegration, while addressing the urgent need to ease congestion in correctional facilities and give deserving individuals a second chance.
Elabi reaffirmed the firm’s readiness to deploy its legal expertise in reviewing cases, engaging judicial authorities, and ensuring strict compliance with due process—particularly for inmates granted bail but unable to meet stipulated conditions.
The exercise will involve close collaboration with correctional authorities, the judiciary, and other key stakeholders to ensure a seamless, transparent, and lawful process.
The initiative has continued to draw commendation as a timely and impactful response to systemic delays within the justice system, while promoting humane and progressive correctional practices in Ondo State.
