An Akure Magistrate Court has granted the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Seun Osamaye, bail over alleged assault.
Thefrontrank reports that a Chief Magistrate, Mrs Temitope Alphonso, had accused the commissioner of verbal abuse, threats, and alleged assault during official engagement.
Osamaye on Wednesday appeared before the magistrate court after previously failing to honour court summons.
Upon her appearance, the court set aside a warrant of arrest earlier issued against the commissioner.
In a ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni held that all applications before the court had become spent following the voluntary appearance of the defendant.
Osamaye, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail on self-recognisance.
The court directed the commissioner to submit a written undertaking to ensure her availability in court whenever the case is scheduled for trial.
The court adjourned the case until February 20, 2026 for further proceedings.
