APC clears Aiyedatiwa, Ibrahim, Oke other aspirants for Ondo governorship primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared all 16 aspirants who obtained its nomination form for the April 20 Ondo governorship primary.

Thefrontrank reports that the aspirants were cleared by a seven-man Screening Committee chaired by Sen. Joshua Lidani.

The report of the screening exercise was submitted by the committee to the party on Saturday in Abuja.

The committee said it considered eligibility, suitability, character, and support base, among other areas.

Thefrontrank reports that the cleared aspirants are Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District Jimoh Ibrahim; former National Vice Chairman (South West), Isaac Kekemeke; and a former member of the House of Assembly; Hon. Olugbenga Omogbemi Edema.

Others are Olusoji Adewale Ehinlanwo, Mrs Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo; Hon. Akinfolarin Mayo Samuel; former Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Adewale Olumuyiwa Akinterinwa; legal luminary, Chief Olusola Alexander Oke, SAN; Ohunyeye Olamide Felix, and Barr. Morayo Lebi.

Also cleared for the primary were Garvey Oladiran Iyantan; Prof. Francis Adebayo Faduyile, Mrs Judith Folakemi Omogoroye, Engr. Ifeoluwa Olusola Oyedele and member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Hon. Okunjimi John Odimayo.

“All aspirants demonstrated a willingness to support the aspirant that emerged as the party’s candidate for the November 2024 governorship election,” the report said.

It tasked the party’s leadership to ensure that the April 20 primary is free, fair, credible and acceptable to all.

The APC has fixed April 20 for the direct primary mode to decide its flag bearer in the November 16 governorship election.
