Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Saturday took part in the All Progressives Congress(APC) presidential primary at his ward in Ugbo Nla in Ilaje Local Government area of the state.
The governor, who joined other party members in the queue to cast his vote, lauded the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise across the state.
He described the process as transparent and credible, while commending APC members in the Ugbo Nla Ward V for their large turnout during the primary.
Aiyedatiwa said the turnout recorded during the exercise reflected the commitment of party members to the APC and their support for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu.
He also praised Tinubu for ensuring what he termed a level playing field for aspirants contesting various positions across the country, including the National Assembly, State Houses of Assembly, governorship and presidential primaries.
According to the governor, the transparent conduct of the exercises has further strengthened internal democracy within the ruling party.
“Ugbo Ward 4 came out in large numbers to exercise one of their civic rights by voting for the re-election of our President, the leader of our party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank Mr President for allowing a level playing ground for all aspirants, right from the National Assembly to the State Assembly, the governorship and the presidential primaries.
“We know we have two aspirants that have been cleared by the party to contest for this position.
“Here, the President won handsomely. The entire APC members here in Ugbo Ward 4 voted for Mr President.”
The governor further commended party leaders and executives at the ward and local government levels for ensuring the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Aiyedatiwa added that reports reaching him from other wards in the local government indicated that the exercise was peaceful and successful.
